You've been limping on that right knee for a few weeks, now. It started out just a bit sore, but now it's getting stiff and a little swollen, and the pain is getting worse. What should you do?

Let's spend a couple of minutes looking at what might be going on, and the potential risks of just living with it, instead of getting some help from Lexington Chiropractic.

The knee is a complex construction consisting of bones, ligaments, tendons and other structures. The joint capsule is a ligamentous structure surrounding the entire joint. Acute injury or a chronic condition, such as osteoarthritis (also known as "OA" or "wear and tear arthritis"), can cause restrictions and stiffness in the joint capsule, which leads to decreased mobility and increased levels of pain.

While you might find the pain tolerable at this point, walking with this altered gait will pretty quickly cause grief for other joints and areas of your body. As you limp with that right knee, the left knee has to pick up the slack. Because you are not standing and walking normally, your hips may very well begin to cause problems. Because your knees and your hips cause changes in your posture, your back is next in line for problems.

You can see a pattern here! So, instead of just "living with the pain", why not give us a call to find out more about how chiropractic knee adjustments might lead to less pain and greater mobility.
